#SummerTime is for adventures. Boating on one of the local lakes is something many folks like to do. Before we all head towards the lake, I want to share a couple of safety tips for everyone to keep in mind.
- If you are skipper, you need to be aware of all rules. Also, ensure your passengers know
your rules. And always let someone off board know what your plans are and when you expect to be back!
- Everybody on the board should be wearing a life jacket, especially on boats which are less than 20ft long and can sink very quickly.
- Please avoid alcohol during water activities. You always need to stay alert and aware as trouble on the water can happen very quickly.
- While speed can seem cool, always operate at a safe speed. Our lakes can get very crowded and you never know if someone is off the boat for a little swim.
- Don’t overload the boat with people or equipment.
We wish you a wonderful and safe boating experience this summer!
